I recently met someone who has a disability who discovered that she has a VET FEE Help debt of more than $36K for a vocational course that she did not even start. It appears that people with disabilities are being enticed with iPads and laptops in shopping centres to sign up to undertake vocational courses that are unsuitable for them. Are you aware of anyone else who has a disability who has incurred a VET FEE Help debt for VET programs that were unsuitable or that they did not undertake? I can see that the deregulation of VET programs has the potential for unscrupulous training providers to exploit very vulnerable people. Therefore, if people with disabilities are being exploited in this way it would be good to know the scale of this problem and to see what can be done to prevent this from happening to others.
