Hunter Area Post Polio Support Group
Support and information concerning late effects of polio and social interaction. Support Group meets on the 1st Wednesday of the month between Feb. and Nov. at the Toronto Workers Club, James Street Toronto. This group deals with issues like Positioning and personal care, Mobility and safety, fatigue and sleep disturbance, impaired breathing and swallowing and airway clearance, cold intolerance, pain management, drug use, general anaesthesia in surgery, local anaesthesia, dental procedures and exercise and physiotherapy. Registration for the Post-Polio Network is between $5 & $20. Bi-Monthly newsletter is sent out, the cost is a donation.

I’m currently in treatment at canarven street and I have been working for over a year now and it’s difficult to get to the chemist on time and to see anyone at canarven street because of my work hours, I have been put on daily pick ups until 30/11/2022 when I do a test. This was changed from weekly to daily because I came in and did a sample and it wasn’t registering a temperature or anything in my sample including methadone which is impossible so my worker assumed that I was trying it on somehow and put me on daily pick ups. It was definitely a faulty test and because I didn’t hang around to do another one, she thought the worst, I understand why but I’m working away soon and I will need a 3-4 day take out but can’t get hold of my worker no matter how many messages I leave she is always busy and never calls me back so what can I do??? I’m working away in Belfast this month
