The Community Neurological Support Service is one of the teams within the Community Outreach and Therapy Services. CNSS provides two forms of service: 1. Intensive Multidisciplinary Home Based Rehabilitation - for clients with a recent neurological event (less than one month post event or discharge). Must have achievable goals and require input from a minimum of two therapists for a period of up to three months. 2. Four Week Stroke Education Group - for chronic stroke survivors and their carers. Participants may go on to therapy groups including an exercise group and a communication group. The service offers brief occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech pathology, social work and dietetic intervention to people attending the group with a focus on enhancing quality of life. All clients MUST BE Medically stable, sixteen years of age or older; living at home or in a hostel on the Central Coast.

The Carers Support Group is run through the Dementia Care Programme of Area Health. The group's facilitator is a specialist in dementia nursing care. The programmes are delivered in an informal comfortable setting, bringing together carers of those clients who are suffering dementia. The purpose is for mutual support and understanding. The programme's aim is to give support, guidance and education to carers, past and present who are caring for someone who is suffering from dementia, to induce an emotional relief of anxiety within a SAFE environment.
