In Home Respite is auspiced by Community Care - Central Coast Ltd. The service offers a break to families or carers of people with dementia or a related disorder. A Co-ordinator will visit the client and do an assessment before respite is arranged. The In Home Respite carer can either stay in the home with the client to give the carer a break, or if the clients' mobility allows it the In Home carer may take the client for a drive. Care can be provided weekly, fortnightly or monthly on a regular basis. The service is provided by Assistants in Nursing who have specialised training and experience in managing difficult behaviour.
