About St John Ambulance Community Care - HACC
The St John Community Care Branch is aimed at providing friendly support to the lonely, frail aged and disabled. Our Volunteers help meet the social, recreational and conversational needs of those less advantaged in our community. Community Care is all about bringing a little sunshine into people's lives. A friendly face and kind word can make a person's day. The value of this companionship is immeasurable, for both recipients and volunteers.nSt John Community Care Registered Volunteers do not wear uniforms nor are they expected to be trained in first aid. As a St John Volunteer you will be asked to set aside some time to visit, or call, someone in your community. How you spend this time together depends on you and the person you visit. You may choose to share a meal, go shopping, or simply have a chat over coffee. St John will provide reimbursements for modest expenses, such as telephone or travel, which you may incur during your visits.
