The York MDRT was created to provide education, support and respite to carers and people with dementia. The service, which is funded by the Commonwealth National Respite for Carers, assists families in accessing community-based respite services based in the Central Wheat belt and part of the Upper Great Southern Region. On average the Team travels a 200km radius from York . Services provided are:- Support and Case Management- The Team will continue to offer support to the family throughout the time the person with dementia is living at home. Ongoing respite program - Regular community-based respite is offered to families through a variety of models including: In-Home Respite Host Family Respite This provides a social club for an average of three people in the earlier stages of dementia in the home of a care worker. Each home is known as a "Host Club" and clients usually enjoy various activities such as art and crafts.

The WA Govt provides funding for Regional Coordination Responses to Family and Domestic Violence (RCRFDV) . The purpose of the RCRFDV is to increase safety of women and children affected by family and domestic violence and perpetrator accountability. Models are now being implemented in regions that will coordinate family and domestic violence services to achieve more consistent, appropriate and accountable agency responses. The RCRFDV's do not provide direct support to people in need. This is a regional inter-agency committeee funded by DFC and managed by AnglicareWA. It offers coordination, support, information and resources for people affected by domestic violence.

This is a statewide HACC service but does not have a regional office in the Goldfields. Services are provided from the main office in Victoria Park and from regional offices in Bunbury, Geraldton, Mandurah and Albany. Regular visits are undertaken to rural areas throughout the State including the Kimberley and Esperance regions. They offer counselling, support, information and advocacy for both the carer and recipient. Their professional team offers specialist skills, training and advice to help people with vision loss to regain confidence and achieve fulfilled and independent lives. The Salvation Army is a Christian organisation providing many and varied services to the community. This service [Mens Support Service (SAMSS)]specifically provides counselling and support for men experiencing difficulty with mental health and other issues that prevent them from living a fulfilled life. This is a 10 week program and deals with anger, depression, self-esteem and behaviour management.This is run together with another program for both men and women called positive life-style.There is also a welfare program that provides emergency relief in the form of food, clothing and vouchers.Open each Friday and is volunteer run. The Southern Transition Care Service is operated by Carinya of Bicton and provides a total of 50 flexible places (residential and community),which is located in Bicton based at Carinya on Bristol site. This service is primarily for older patients living in the South Metropolitan Area. Carinya Annexe - Care Awaiting Placement In conjunction with Fremantle Hospital, Carinya of Bicton co-ordinates a Care Awaiting Placement unit for 30 residents waiting for a Nursing Home of their choice. Located at 41 Bristol Avenue, the site of the original Carinya Nursing Home, the Carinya Annexe has been operating since January 2001 and is successful in alleviating the pressure on acute hospital beds and also provides an insight into the nursing home environment for the residents.

This association provides services for people with vision impairment and aims to ensure that people who are blind or vision impaired receive a personalised, prompt and effective response. Their processes have been designed to ensure that this happens from the point of initial contact and for as long as contact continues. Services available are The Braille and Talking Book Library that produces Braille and audio copies of books, textbooks and material in Braille or audio formats. This is an individualised service and once the OT has assessed the needs of the client then they will link them in with services in the community to enhance the client's independence. Orientation and Mobility instructors will be brought in for the client. Vision aids like magnifiers will be supplied by linking the client with a local optometrist.
