Fremantle Community Care Day Centre offers a range of recreational activities for older adults and those with a disability. This is a HACC service with clients paying a fee of $8.00 for the day. This is Multicultural Day Centre for older adults of all nationalities and operates Tues to Fri except for public holidays. They provide social interaction, a meal and transport to and from the centre if required which gives respite to the clients primary carer. All nationalities welcome but there are ethnic-specific days -Tuesdays are Croatian,Thursdays are Portuguese, and Wednesdays and Fridays are Italian.However all nationalities are welcome and the days are full of activities for all. Volunteers often come to the centre to cook special ethnic dishes and all participants may enjoy this offering, usually with a glass of wine with the meal.

Kwobarup Aboriginal Program This service is aimed specifically at our Aboriginal Community. The Kwobarup program offers a range of services to fail, aged and disabled Aboriginal people. Services include: Centre Based Respite Home Help Home Maintenance Transport At our Day Centre we run a cultural art program, activities and outings in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. This is also a good point to contact for more resource information about other Aboriginal specific services provided in the community. The Rockingham Respite Cottage is close to the Rockingham foreshore and provides centre based respite care to people who are aged, have a disability or life limiting illness. The support SC provides enables carers to take a short term break. The cottage operates as a Day Centre with before and after hours care and overnight accommodation. Home cooked meals are served in a warm and friendly environment. Activities such as art and craft, music, games, puzzles and outings are all offered at the cottage. Transport to and from the cottage can also be arranged. This is a fully-funded centre under NRCP There are 3 respite beds and residents usually stay up to to 14 days.There is a shared bathroom and a chef cooks meals each day at the centre .

They deliver support to prevent social isolation and enable you to interact with others in a comfortable setting. Each day centre makes available a wide variety of services and activities ranging from craft and woodwork to slide shows and presentations from guest speakers. Day centre activities also include day trips. The Margaret Harris Day Centre is a HACC service . Meals are provided for a cost of $6. A bus provides transport to and from the centre and has a hoist for wheelchairs.The Day Centre operates Mon-Thurs from 9am to 2.30pm .Fridays are for outings only and incurs an extra cost- $25. Mondays and Wednesdays are specifically for dementia clients. Recreational activities at the centre include gentle exercise regimes , various games like cards , mini golf and scrabble; arts and crafts plus there are social outings to picnics , concerts etc.

The gatherings are held twice a week at the Toodyay Football Club where morning tea and lunch are served for a cost of $7.There are many recreational activities such as cards and scrabble or clients may choose just to socialise.

Avalon Day Club and Eldercare Day Club are part of the Demonstration Day Respites(DDR) in a Retirement Care Facility(RCF). St Ives Aged Care Services Australia (ACSA) offers a Day Respite service to residents who are supported by a primary carer and who live in the LGAs of Fremantle , Melville and Cockburn. These respite services operate from both St Ives Eldercare in Myaree and St Ives Murdoch Retirement Villages(Avalon Apartments) in Murdoch. This program is funded by the Federal Govt. under the National Respite for Carers for people over 65 yo. Day Club members can enjoy 3 meals during the day and join in the activities at the RCF that incorporates a healthy lifestyle program. There are many and varied activites offerred from physical exercise sessions , guest speakers , entertainers, rest areas for the less robust , socialising and access to most amenities at these RCFs.
