About BAM-T
What is BAM-T?rnrnBoxing provides a cathartic release that few other physical activities provide. Focus while punching, awareness of balance and deep breathing inherently creates a mindful activity. The control, discipline and empowerment can uncover your unique strengths and support deep therapeutic processing.rnrnPaul works with new clients individually or in very small groups (3 max) to Introduce them to the program. rn rnAfter making sure that he understands each clients' specific trauma during an initial 30-minute one on one, he walks them through what they will hear and ensures that they are doing the techniques in a way that is safe and will not injure them. rn rnEach session starts with a guided meditation. Clients are guided through a visualization exercise for a few minutes and are invited to access an uncomfortable memory that they would like to reprocess to the extent that they are comfortable. Clients warm up and walk through the program, and then it is time to do something demanding and empowering that brings the client back into the present. He has recorded an audio program that gives prompts to throw, evade or block strikes. Like a typical boxing trainer, he will hold up the mitts for clients to strike, move the mitts toward the client for them to evade, or tap the client's arm when they are prompted to block.rn rnPaul then takes them through the workout, which requires close attention and rapid reaction while holding trainers' mitts for clients to strike as he rotates among the group. After the rounds are complete, a cool down and checkout completes the therapy. rnrnOver the three years Paul has been doing this therapy, he has seen and heard from clients that it helped them with a variety of challenges including:rnrnPTSDrnGeneral AnxietyrnTraumarnDepressionrnAddictionrnSocial anxietyrnrnWho is it NOT for:rn rnPeople just looking for a boxing workout, this is therapy with a licensed counselor.
