About Bankstown Health service, Stuttering Unit
Provides initial assessments by speech pathologists for people who stutter, of any age and from any location. Can provide information about stuttering and about treatment services close to client. No medical referral is required. An assessment appointment lasts for 1.5 hours, and following the assessment clients names are either placed on the unit's treatment waiting list or referred to local public or private sector speech pathology services. The Stuttering Unit provides full treatment and maintenance programs for npre-school and school age children who live in Bankstown Local Government Area only, and adults and adolescents over 16yrs who are able to attend the stuttering unit regularly as required for their treatment. Also provides consultation service for speech pathologists to provide second opinions or assist with advice about treatment.
