About CNC Wound and Stoma Services

Consult on Complex wounds acute or chonic and provide advice on wound care products. Wound and Stoma Services are provided by a specially trained registered nurse, with a postgraduate certificate in looking after people with specific needs. These needs may be related to surgery to the bowel or bladder, to divert faeces or urine through a surgically created outlet called a stoma. The stoma may be called a colostomy, ileostomy or ileal-conduit depending on the type of surgery performed. Wound and Stoma Services can: provide information and answer questions about the surgery, assist with choosing an appropriate site for a stoma on the belly, provide education on stoma care after the surgery, provide advice on choosing the appropriate appliances, information on how to order appliances, provide counselling and support before and after the surgery, information on how to join a support group and liaise with other services if required.
