About Combined Pensioners and Superannuants Association - Community Visitors Scheme
The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) matches volunteer visitors with aged care facilities. The Scheme (funded by the Dept of Health and Ageing) provides a highly rewarding and satisfying volunteer experience whilst alleviating the loneliness and isolation experienced by residents of aged care facilities. Residents and visitors are individually matched to ensure that there are common interests and the process of befriending a resident makes a positive difference to both community visitor and resident. Training is given to volunteer community visitors and on-going support is available both individually and in groups. Visitors may spend time simply chatting, or perhaps go on walks or shopping excursions. Visits are usually for one hour each fortnight. The Combined Pensioners and Superannuants Association coordinates visits to a range of aged care facilities in the inner west and southern suburbs of Sydney.
