About Community Aged Care - Mental Health Service

The Aged Care Mental Health Service provides mental health assessment and treatment for people over 65 years of age who have or may have a mental illness which has arisen after the age of 65; mental illness related to an age-related condition and pre-existing mental illness being complicated by an age-related or medical condition. Services include in-home assessment and treatment, family support services, outpatient medical appointments, case management, coordination and referral to community services as necessary. Referral is through a GP or other health professional or any other interested party. The Aged Care Mental Health Service does not provide crisis care or ongoing services for people who have dementia alone. Contact 1300 858 998 for emergencies or urgent referrals.
