A Doctors Safety Line representative will install a small unit that connects to the household telephone. In any emergency, inside or outside the home a button worn (either as a neck pendant or wrist bracelet) is pressed by the client. The button's signal brings the client in immediate contact with an operator at a monitoring centre. Even if the caller is unable to talk, the operator knows their identity and location, and can assure them that they are safe, and that help is on the way. The monitoring centre operator will stay on line with the caller until help arrives. When the unit is installed your medical details and your priorities for emergency help are taken, as it has been shown that only a small percentage of calls require an ambulance.
