About Dubbo Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program (BIRP)

The Macquarie and Far West Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program is a service available for children and adults who have had a brain injury. This program provides assistant to people in the old Macquarie and Far West Health Regions (inpatient, outpatient, and regional visits).nServices include: comprehensive assessment to identify areas of difficulty, information about the types of things to expect following a brain injury, and how to manage these difficulties, assistance to access other services and assessments (e.g. neuropsychological and medical), assistance to develop personal goals and take steps towards achieveing them, support and counselling for the person who has had the injury and their family, assistance with return to work and/or driving, assistance with insurance related matters, and education and training on the effect of traumatic brain injury
