About Emergency In-Home Support (EIHS)
EIHS provides HACC clients and primary carers with extra assistance in their own home by fully trained workers in times of emergency. An emergency is defined as being:n . when a carer becomes ill and goes into hospital unexpectedly;n . if a carer or other family member diesn . when a carer requests assistance due to stressn . when a frail elderly person or person with disabilities becomes ill and needs extra support to stay at home.n . personal care, meal preparation, respite and nursing care are provided as required.n . EIHS is short term support of up to 66 hours of care over 1 week. It is provided in addition to other support already being used.n . workers are supervised and directed by professional staff.n . people may choose either a male or female worker.
