About Extended Families Australia - Southern & Peninsula Regions

Established in 1978 as the Foster Grandparents Scheme, Extended Families provides support for families with a child with a disability by carefully matching mature aged volunteers with the child, fostering the development of a 'grandparent' style relationship. The volunteer regularly visits the child in the family home or in community settings. All volunteers are screened and fully trained and the process involves a home assessment, two referee checks, medical and police checks. There is no cost except a small membership fee. Covers Middle Park to Edithvale, Edithvale to Portsea, Pearcedale, Frankston and Peninsula.
