Community Care 'Hands On' is a service provided for long-term patients in hospitals, aged care facilities, mental health units and day respite centres across New South Wales. Through face and hand massage and manicures, as well as the provision of companionship and emotional support, the Community Care 'Hands On' program aims to provide relief from the potentially debilitating effects of being in a clinical environment. Community Care 'Hands On' aims to improve the quality of life, self-confidence and well-being of patients and, indirectly, the volunteers who deliver the service, through the opportunity to share the power of personal touch with another.
