About Holdsworth Street Community Centre - Family Support Services

The aim of this programme is to assist families to deal effectively with the demands made on them and to promote effective parenting skills with an emphasis on prevention rather than intervention. The Family Support Coordinator provides information, support, and referral for families with young children, including families experiencing difficulties. There is a Daily Playgroup from Mon - Fri 9.30 am to 11.30 am where parents and carers meet in a relaxed atmosphere and friendships and mutual support systems can be established. On Monday and Wednesday there are Music & Movement classes for toddlers and babies. The Children's Library is open with Librarian in attendance on Tuesday from 10.30 am to 12 midday. On Thursday there are Positive Parenting and Child Development classes run by a child development consultant, child and family counsellor and psychotherapist from 10.00am to 12 midday. A Baby Group meets from 10 am to 12 midday each Friday.
