About Hunter Area Diabetes Service
What they offer: Group education programs about nutrition, foot care and day to day management of diabetes are conducted by diabetic nurses, dietitians, doctor and a podiatrist. Individual consultations with the staff for people who are unable to attend a group program. Programs for young people with diabetes (aged 12-30 years). Diabetes Aust. now run these camps. These programs are for people with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance, impaired fasting glucose and gestational diabetes. Royal Newcastle Centre at Rankin Park. Diabetes outpatient clinic - This clinic is for the medical management of diabetes. From Mid April 06 Medical outpatients clinics will operate at John Hunter Hospital. Also Diabetes centres are at Wallsend, Belmont, Toronto, Maitland, Cessnock and Salamander Bay.
