About Hunter Brain Injury Respite Options (HBIRO)

HBIRO provides flexible respite options to people with an acquired brain injury who live with a Carer and reside in the Hunter Region. Respite options include:nCamps - A camp for adults and children is held once a year.nIn-House Respite - Consumers come and stay for short periods in the respite house for a holiday with support from Community Service Workers (CSWs)nCommunity respite - Consumers participant in a variety of activities of their choice within the community, with the support of a CSW. Activities may include - shopping, going to the movies, swimming, attending the gym or participating in volunteer work.nGroup Function Days - Throughout the year a variety of group days are held giving Consumers the opportunity to socialise with their peers. Each Consumer has a respite plan, which is reviewed regularly to ensure the service is meeting individual and changing needs.
