Kennerley Children's Homes provides respite and emergency care for parents and primary care givers in times of difficulty.nShort term care: when a child has been separated from its parent or guardian for some unavoidable reason.nMedium term care: when greater support is needed. Kennerley shares the child support for up to 12 months while the parent(s) are assisted by an agency to address difficulties. nLonger term placements are not the intention of the Kennerley foster care program. However if exisitng care needs to be extended the child usually remains with the same carer to avoid an unsettling move. nRespite care is offered to parents under stress that may need a short break before continuing care for their children. Planned respite can be provided on a regular basis to help through a difficult period. nEmergency care may be provided from overnight to several weeks depending on the situation.
