About Learning Disability Unit, Hunter Institute - TAFE Maitland Campus

Provide disability support services to students needing special services such as access, hearing (deaf) and scribing (blind) services for people with impairments. Vocational education, reasonable adjustment including access courses or tutorials, oral exams, reduced load in mainstream TAFE courses (Intellectual Disability). Can provide a range of support services to students having difficulty with study due to an injury, illness or disability. Services include tutorials, special courses, modified exams, notetaker or reader, ergonomic furniture and computer items, special equipment, interpreters, reduced hours, notes in braille and other formats, accessible rooms etc. TAFE welcomes people with disabilities wanting to train for suitable work. Matthew Pearce (PDU) and Jackqui Walker (IDU) are assistants who can also be contacted on the above numbers and are an excellent contact point for referrals, information regarding any of their services/courses, enrollments etc.
