The Medicare benefits arrangements are designed to provide financial assistance to people who incur medical expenses from public hospitals and professional services rendered by qualified medical practitioners, participating optometrists and eligible dentists (specified services only). The payment of Medicare benefits, information about Medicare and applications are all available at Medicare offices. Note that where practitioners decide to bulk bill Medicare, the service is free of charge to the patient. Medicare also gives rebates, if their GP makes a recommendation as part of a Primary Health Care Plan for Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Diabetes Education, Audiology, Dietetics, Mental Health, Occupational Therapy, Chiropractor, Psychology & Speech Pathology
