About Mental Health Community Outreach Program

The Mental Health Community Outreach Program at Women's Health Services supports mothers who have a mental illness and are caring for children. The program has a kids physical activity group which meets twice each school term to provide opportunities for the children to develop peer support and new skills. The service also runs a school holiday program in all holiday periods to relieve the stress and cost involved for families during these times and to provide opportunities for positive mother/child relationhips. nArt workshops are being organised for children to express themselves creatively through art during 2006 and we hope to include an adolecent group. nPreviously the Program has run retreats for these families to Rottnest Island and has been involved in other COPMI interagency projects such as documentaries on issues for families where there is mental illness.
