The Society's Respite House is located at 19 Norbury Crescent, City Beach. It is a five bedroomed house taking up to five people plus one emergency at a time. The length of stay is for a period of up to one month and a charge is made for each night's stay. The house is staffed on a 24 hour basis with carers who have received training through the Society. Any medical needs of a resident are provided through generic services. The aim of respite is to enable the Member to have a "holiday" and to enable their family to have a break from the caring role. Respite is also used if the Carer is sick.nThe Coordinator of Respite assesses the Member before admission to ensure that the needs of that person can be met during their stay. Respite is available to people who have a physical disability and are mentally aware.
