The Disability Programs Consultant works in partnership with parents and the learning support team to determine the most appropriate option to meet the needs of children with an identified disability and identify resources available to support the child's enrolment and arrange access to required services. Students with disabilities can be enrolled in regular classes with additional support, in a support class in a regular school or in a special school. Firstly an appraisal of the child's needs is undertaken by the learning support team and coordinated by the school where enrolment is sought in a regular class. If the learning support team believes that the support level requires alternative enrolment options (support class or special school) the Disability Programs Consultant will refer an application to the Sydney region placement panel who will determine access to service.n Private schools are not included in this program.
