About NSW Ombudsman - Official Community Visitors
Official Community Visitors are co-ordinated by the NSW ombudsman. However, they are independent from that office and directly responsible to the Minister for Community Services. They visit most accommodation services for children, people with a disability and those in licensed boarding houses throughout NSW. Official Community Visitors aim to advocate for and protect the interests of people living in full time residential care provided or funded by The Department of Community Services (DOCS)or Department of Ageing,Disability and Home Care(DADHC). Official Community Visitors inform the Minister and the Ombudsman about the quality of the services, promote rights, identify issues raised by residents, provide information and help sort out complaints. Priority is given to residents who are at greatest risk.
