The Inpatient Unit has both general and observation wards and offers supervised care in hospital when community treatment is not possible. Individuals are admitted to the observation ward when they have a mental illness or disorder that needs to be treated to stabilise their mental state. The unit offers education and support to consumers and their families during their hospital isolation, and also provides activity programs and occupational therapy.nnConsumers are admitted to the observation ward when they are severely troubled by the symptoms of mental illness and they need close observation and frequent monitoring. When the consumers mental state has stabilised, they are transferred to the general ward.
