PADP provides a wide range of equipment to adults and children. Equipment includes: shower supports, wheelchairs, continence aids, beds, commodes, cushions, hoists, prosthetic aids, orthotic aids. Generally application is accepted, however equipment is available according to need and financial situation. Holders of the pension and/or healthcare card are a priority. Anyone on a salary will be considered for high cost items, but a copy of their last years tax return will be requested. The PADP coordinator will assess the application, which may be further considered by the local PADP Advisory Committee. The PADP coordinator will also advise people about equipment pools operated by local hospitals and other organisations. NB: ALL RESPIRATORY AIDS: this program has different criteria (eg: certain blood gas levels, financial criteria etc.) and a referral would need to be from a respiratory specialist.
