About Program of Appliances for Disabled People (PADP.)

PADP provides a wide range of equipment (eg: shower supports, wheelchairs, continence aids, beds, commodes, cushions, hoists, prosthetic aids, orthotic aids etc.) to adults and children with a disability. Equipment is available according to need and financial situation. Applications must include a copy of a person's Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessment or details of Centrelink pension or Health Care card. The PADP coordinator will assess the application, which may be further considered by the local PADP Advisory Committee. The PADP coordinator will also advise people about equipment pools operated by local hospitals and other organisations. NB: OXYGEN AIDS: this program has different criteria (eg certain blood gas levels, financial criteria etc.) and a referral would need to be from a respiratory specialist rather than a GP.nCurrently there is a waiting time.
