Older Drivers Handbook: Driving/Medical Assessments. Details of the Mobility Parking Scheme. nSenior licence holders - when you reach 80 years of age you will need to have a medical examination each year if you wish to retain your licence. The RTA will send you a medical report form approximately 8 weeks before your birthday each year for completion by your doctor.nThe Mobility Parking Scheme (MPS) provides parking concessions to people with mobility disabilities. Changes made to the scheme in September 2003 help to protect the interests of legitimate users and prevent the fraudulent use of MPS cards. All applications for new or renewal of MPS cards must be signed by a medical doctor. Doctors are aware that the fraudulent use of MPS cards disadvantage the people the scheme is designed to help, and will not sign the medical certificate unless you genuinely meet the requirements.
