About Royal North Shore Hospital - Care For Carers Course (Carer Education & Support Group)

Educational Courses are held for 2.5 hours a week for a 6 week period. The courses are aimed at providing carers with information on various topics and the opportunity to discuss these topics and areas of concern with other carers and support workers. Topics discussed include: the impact of caring, family stress and conflict, managing difficult behaviour, practical help with daily tasks, respite care and other support services available. It gives carers the opportunity to discuss their lives as carers together. The course is not limited to carers of people with specific illnesses. It is important that participants attend all sessions. People who attend the course then become eligible for membership of the Carers' Support Group, which meets monthly except for January. Courses run twice a year.
