After illness or injury there could be concerns regarding a person's ability to return to safe driving. The Centre has specially trained occupational therapists and driving instructors who are able to assist people with significant disabilities return to driving. The Centre can also assist people with special needs who may need advice and assistance to acquire their licence for the first time. General assistance and information can be provided regarding: driving assessments, driver retraining and lessons, defensive driving techniques, driver education, vehicle modification and equipment installation, access to specially modified vehicles, RTA medical report forms, RTA testing procedures, licensing, and a resource service on all aspects of driving rehabilitation. The centre's occupational therapists are recognised by and registered with the RTA. Specialist support is also available from an orthoptist and other health professionals as required.
