Gold mining is the major industry in Wiluna and the pastoral industry is producing quality cattle and sheep . There are now approximately 1644 people living in the Shire including several mining villages, which are run mainly on a fly-in fly-out basis ; 300 permanent residents and a large indigenous population. The Shire has an excellent selection of sporting facilities in Wiluna, including football, netball, basketball, tennis and golf. . Halls and Meeting Rooms :- The town of Wiluna has several historical buildings that hold great historical value to the community. The Shire's administration office is located in the old town hospital and is still used regularly for Council and Committee meetings.
