About Shoalhaven Bayrest Dementia Respite Service - BBCRI

The aim of this service is to provide support and respite to carers, reducing the risk of premature or inappropriate admission of people with dementia to institutional care services. nNeed to be assessed and be diagnosed with having dementia, may have challenging behaviours.nCarers are offered a flexible service.nIn-home respite up to 6 hours per fortnight. Workers can, with the permission of the carer, take the client out for walk or drive, ice cream. This can be discussed at individual assessment.nAlso Sundowners group in the Bay and Basin area, outings for people with dementia, between 2 pm and 6 pm each Tuesday.
