About The Annette Shepherd Centre

The Shepherd Centre aims to help deaf and hearing impaired children reach their language, listening and speech potential and integrate into their local community, school and the hearing world. All children at The Shepherd Centre wear a hearing device, and some children have additional special needs. Early intervention program offers Family Therapy/Support where the parent/caregiver is offered one session per week to provide practical ideas and skills to further assist the hearing impaired child and can also speak to a family counsellor, Playgroup is run weekly where educational activities are provided, Transitional Program (preschool support) supports a hearing impaired child when integrating to a local preschool, long day care centre or other early childhood facility, Audiological Services provides hearing tests, ear impressions, cochlear implant services (MAPping) and spare parts. $20 annual membership fee applies.
