About The National Palliative Care Program
The Palliative Care Section of the Department of Health and Ageing acts in collaboration with state and territory governments, institutions and key stakeholders to ensure ongoing improvement in the provision of quality palliative care to all Australians. nPalliative Care is directly involved with the sector through its administration of funding via state and territory governments to such groups through the Palliative Care in the Community initiative and the Local Palliative Care Grants Program. nThe section is vitally concerned with: nsupport for patients, families and carers in the community; nincreased community access to palliative care medicines via the Palliative Care Medicines Working Group; nworkforce education, training and support; and, nresearch and quality improvement for palliative care services.nFurther detail on the section's role within the Department of Health and Ageing can be found at: nhttp://www.health.gov.au/palliativecare
