About The University of Newcastle Legal Centre

The UNLC operates as a community legal centre, providing free legal advice and assistance to those in the Hunter area. The centre aims to assist persons with limited financial means to provide an excellent legal service based on ethical practice and also in matters that are of public interest. The centre provides legal advice on a wide range of matters including debt, family law, victims compensation, employment, discrimination, wills, power of attorney, enduring guardianship, motor vehicle accidents, tenancy, consumer and fair trading services, neighbour disputes, public interest matters, mental health and social security. Drop in advice sessions are offered during University semesters on a Wednesday afternoon fom 1.30pm to 4pm. Evening sessions are held on Wednesday by appointment only. Clients are to telephone the centre before presenting.
