Family Day Care provides all the benefits of a traditional child care centre (with programmed activities, good supervision, indoor and outdoor play) combined with the warmth and intimacy of a family atmosphere. The relaxed home environment is an ideal setting for the development of sensitive, responsive, secure and consistent relationships, which research makes clear, are essential for early brain development. nChildren in Family Day Care learn through planned and spontaneous experiences that are an extension of the family environment. In small groups, the children receive more individual attention as well as the social interaction they need and enjoy. They also have the opportunity to mix and socialise in large groups when they attend playgroup sessions and outings/excursions held for the carers by the Co-ordination Unit. nFamily Day Carers are a diverse group and each service reflects the style, personality, culture and background of the Carer.
