Association for the Blind WA- Albany

This association provides services for people with vision impairment and aims to ensure that people who are blind or vision impaired receive a personalised, prompt and effective response. Their processes have been designed to ensure that this happens from the point of initial contact and for as long as contact continues. Services available are The Braille and Talking Book Library that produces Braille and audio copies of books, textbooks and material in Braille or audio formats. This is an individualised service and once the OT has assessed the needs of the client then they will link them in with services in the community to enhance the client's independence. Orientation and Mobility instructors will be brought in for the client. Vision aids like magnifiers will be supplied by linking the client with a local optometrist.
