Dementia Carers Support Group Long Jetty

The Carers Support Group is run through the Dementia Care Programme of Area Health. The group's facilitator is a specialist in dementia nursing care. The programmes are delivered in an informal comfortable setting, bringing together carers of those clients who are suffering dementia. The purpose is for mutual support and understanding. The programme's aim is to give support, guidance and education to carers, past and present who are caring for someone who is suffering from dementia, to induce an emotional relief of anxiety within a SAFE environment. It is recommended that clients who are going to their first session arrive at 9am to meet the facilitator and discuss their situation. People who choose to attend a group may do so without any previous arrangement
