First Step Program - HIV/AIDS and Hep C Prevention Service

State and Federal initiative to reduce incidence of HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C among drug users thus reducing the overall risk to the wider community. Needle and syringes provided, on the understanding used ones are returned for safe disposal. Disposal of used needles and syringes if found in the community. Responds to needle hotline calls. Information, education and referrals provided to clients regarding drug use, safe injecting, detoxification, safe sex and blood borne viruses. Condoms provided on request. Needle Exchange Secondary Outlets: -ACON at Kenny St, Wollongong -Shoalhaven District Hospital Accident and Emergency -Bulli, Warilla, Nowra, Ulladulla, Community Health Centres Bellambi and Dapto Neighbourhood Centres -CHAIN, Denison St Wollongong. OUTREACH - field workers can visit clients at home, on the street, "wherever". Call primary office to make an appointment. Counselling - explores issues regarding drug use and prompts action for cessation of drug use.

Hello
My mum suffered a stroke in July and is currently in Woy Woy rehab centre. They’re hoping she’ll be home in 5/6 weeks. My dad is looking for someone to come in the mornings and evenings to help with mum. We are looking at between 4-6 hours per day. We’ll know more in 5/6 weeks as to the role itself but it’s standby assistance.
