Home Start Program of the Family Action Centre

Home-Start is not-for-profit community organisation which began operating in May 1989. Home-Start provides volunteers to support families who are experiencing difficulties and have preschool aged children. Families may feel isolated geographically or socially by being new to the Newcastle ares or having no family network to call upon, other factors could be post natal depression, sole parenting, teenage parents, and multiple bitrths. Services provided include, companionship and going to play group or local park, or help with getting to appointments. The aim is to provide families with the suport they need. Home-Start voluteers come from a variety of backgrounds and are specifically trained.
