John Macrae Adult Day Centre

The John Macrae Centre is a day centre offering a friendly, equitable and flexible program for older people of Stonnington and their carers. People living outside the area will be assessed on a needs basis (if applicable City of Glen Eira and City of Melbourne). For the frail aged & those with memory loss, dementia & disabilities. Programs include: walking group, morning coffee group, adult day programs and special needs groups. Transport to and from the Centre is provided by JMC's own bus, Stonnington community buses, volunteer drivers, carers or taxis. A small daily fee of $11.00 is charged which covers the day's cost including lunch. The fee can be paid on the day or by account. For families/carers of members attending the Centre, it is possible for members to be with us for extended hours and for emergency respite between 9:30am and 4pm. A carer's support group is also available.

My mum suffered a stroke in July and is currently in Woy Woy rehab centre. They’re hoping she’ll be home in 5/6 weeks. My dad is looking for someone to come in the mornings and evenings to help with mum. We are looking at between 4-6 hours per day. We’ll know more in 5/6 weeks as to the role itself but it’s standby assistance.
