Local Area Coordinator- Kwinana
Each local area coordinator (LAC) provides support to between 45 and 70 people with disabilities, which enables the service to remain personalised and responsive. They also build strong community networks by connecting with local community members and groups who are willing to provide support .The local area coordinator operates as a service coordinator rather than a service provider, and, as such, is there to help the person with a disability and their family or carers to plan, select and receive needed services This Kwinana Office of the South Metro , Cockburn Sound District is one of 3 in the district.The other offices are in Cockburn and Rockingham. Kwinana North/Shoalwater (Barry Arnold,9439 3701) covers Hope Valley ,Orelia , Kwinana Beach , Naval Base, Medina , Mandogalup , Spectalces , Postans. Kwinana South (Lillianne Liddelow, 9419 5208) covers Atwell and the rest.

The service is available to people with physical, sensory, neurological, cognitive and/or intellectual disabilities under the age of 60 . I’m currently in treatment at canarven street and I have been working for over a year now and it’s difficult to get to the chemist on time and to see anyone at canarven street because of my work hours, I have been put on daily pick ups until 30/11/2022 when I do a test. This was changed from weekly to daily because I came in and did a sample and it wasn’t registering a temperature or anything in my sample including methadone which is impossible so my worker assumed that I was trying it on somehow and put me on daily pick ups. It was definitely a faulty test and because I didn’t hang around to do another one, she thought the worst, I understand why but I’m working away soon and I will need a 3-4 day take out but can’t get hold of my worker no matter how many messages I leave she is always busy and never calls me back so what can I do??? I’m working away in Belfast this month
