State Emergency Service [SES] Head Office is based at this location. This service is a source of trained personnel, volunteers and equipment to back up statutory services (Police, Ambulance, Fire) in times of disaster. The SES is responsible for storm and flooding response. Emergency Services Ministerial office, headquarters for Fire and Ambulance services, and a paramedic response team and vehicle are also located at this site.

As a carer of a child with a disability (and having chronic health conditions myself), we were ecstatic when my terminally ill mother gifted us $4,000- to go toward the cost of a replacement vehicle. Given that our old car was beyond repair, we needed one that was safe and structurally (and mechanically) sound. While the amount we had to expend was limited to $6,000- (don’t laugh) we had hoped to find something reliable that would get us to and from medical appointments.
Having bought and sold on Gumtree many times before, we were (quietly) confident that we had conducted all the necessary checks and proceeded to arrange an inspection. The car was everything we hoped for (and more) and after conforming that it was not stolen, proceeded to leave a $1,000- deposit. Shortly thereafter, we discovered that the car had been a repairable write-off and after much consideration, we decided to proceed with the purchase.
The seller promised to have the road worthy completed so that the item in question could be registered and so I booked the car in to Vic Roads. However the workshop (conducting the various repairs) told me the day before that it would not be ready, as they were waiting on parts.
In light of this, I contacted the owner, asking for a suitable time to reschedule the appointment. My request was met with silence until I contacted him again the following day. It was at this point that I was informed that he was keeping the car.
When I attempted to arrange collection of my money, once again I was met with silence, then the threats started coming. I received a text message stating that he would “make it ten times harder for me to get my money back.”
We now find ourselves considerably worse off than when we started our search for a replacement car and would be most appreciative of any advice.
It goes without saying that we have evidence to support our claims.
