Tasmania Fire Service - Project Wake Up!
Older people, and people with a disability, are eligible for free home fire safety checks, and installation of free smoke alarms or battery replacements (when necessary). Health Care Organisations submit referral details to the TFS Community Education Unit. At the beginning of every month Brigades are sent a list of people who require a home fire safety check. The Brigade contacts each participant to arrange a suitable time to visit. Firefighters then call on the participant and conduct a free home fire safety check and install smoke alarms or change batteries (if necessary).
