Telecross - Western Region
There are 39 Telecross centres across NSW, operating 365 days a year. Each morning, a trained Red Cross volunteer makes a short, friendly phone call to ensure that the client is safe and well. If the call is not answered, a second call is made. If there is still no response, Red Cross initiates an emergency procedure and arranges assistance as required. Telecross can be provided on a temporary basis, during a period of rehabilitiation or when a carer is absent. Anyone who might benefit from a daily phonecall for security, or to combat social isolation, is welcome to apply. Although the majority of Telecross clients are elderly, the service does not preclude people with disabilities or young clients who are medically dependent. Telecross has been established in the following towns in the Western Region: Dubbo, Forbes, Gunnedah, Narrabri, Tamworth, Mudgee, Young, Grenfell, Cowra, and Manilla. 6884 6061 is direct Telecross No. and should not be used as a contact No. for enquiries.

Hello, I am a mum of two small children aged 1 and 3. I have been thinking of the value of community and would love to reach out to the older generation who may be missing their family or not have any. I'm not sure how to go about it. I'd love to take some time to visit or meet with a group of friendly people . I think it might bring some joy to some and my children will have the benefit of getting to know a different generation.
