The Transcultural Mental Health Centre is a state wide organisation that aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of people from non-English speaking backgrounds through a community capacity building approach, with a whole of lifespan focus. The TMHC seeks to achieve this through working in partnership with mental health, health and welfare services, consumers, carers and the community to achieve this goal. The TMHC provides translated resources, mental health promotion, carer support groups, specific projects and clinical intervention (assessments, counselling and individual, family and group psychoeducation)

Hello, I am a mum of two small children aged 1 and 3. I have been thinking of the value of community and would love to reach out to the older generation who may be missing their family or not have any. I'm not sure how to go about it. I'd love to take some time to visit or meet with a group of friendly people . I think it might bring some joy to some and my children will have the benefit of getting to know a different generation.
