Rotary Club of Boulder PMH GF Family Assistance Trust

The Rotary Club of Boulder Princess Margaret Hospital Trust Fund Goldfields Family Assistance Fund - This Fund is available to all families living in the Goldfields who have to attend PMH.The scheme will assist with accommodation and transport costs to and from Perth over and beyond the PATS entitlement but it does not fully fund the cost of their stay in Perth. Families still need to contribute and the accommodation has to be in the budget to middle of the range type , not of the 5 star hotel type. However, this is a very flexible scheme with no upper limits to the amount of assistance to be given to the families. If a long stay in Perth is likely then the situation for assistance will have to be re-assessed. Airfares as a rule are not included in the scheme unless it is medically necessary. Families will need to put in a request for this scheme prior to travel if it is a planned trip or if they come in an emergency then they can apply once they arrive at PMH.

The Cancer Council Crawford Lodge, a two-storey accommodation facility for country cancer patients and their carers coming to Perth for diagnosis and treatment, offers first-class facilities in a caring and supportive environment. In order to relieve the financial burden of visiting Perth for treatment, the Cancer Council subsidises the cost of the accommodation by keeping room charges in-line with the Department of Health's Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS). This amounts to $35.00 per person per night. Guests may be able to claim the cost of their stay through the PATS scheme. It is necessary to contact the PATS Clerk at your local hospital before coming to Perth. The Lodge, which is located close to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Nedlands, does not provide nursing care, so guests must be able to either look after themselves or be accompanied by a carer. Carers are also welcome to stay at the Lodge whilst their relative is in hospital.
